MOUNT MERBABU HIKE

Start your journey by leaving at 05:30 AM from Yogyakarta in the early morning, traveling through scenic countryside to reach the hiking basecamp of Merbabu Mountain located in Selo Village at an elevation of 1.836 MASL.

Rest briefly, and then the adventure starts with a difficult climb through vibrant tropical woodlands. In the process, you might come across native animals like monkeys or vibrant butterflies, enhancing the feeling of adventure and exploration. After trekking for roughly 4 hours and reaching post 4 at 2.277 MASL, the scenery starts to shift as the woodland transitions into green savannas adorned with wildflowers. The air grows chillier as you near the peak, where the fruits of your labour lie in wait.

Upon arriving at the peak of Mount Merbabu at 3.142 MASL, you can take a much-deserved rest. Bask in the breathtaking sights of Merapi Volcano from a close range and relish the expansive panorama of Java’s volcanic terrain extending as far as the eye can observe. After taking in the view and discovering the summit area, you will return down the same path, appreciating the sights and sounds of the natural environment again. By late afternoon, after roughly 4 hours of descending, you will return to the hiking basecamp.
